WASHINGTON, DC: Following Mike Johnson’s win as Speaker of the House, The Daily Beast released an article titled, “Does New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson Have a Bank Account?” the Washington Bureau Chief of The Daily Beast, Matt Fuller, also shared his article on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After this article was published and shared on social media, an unimpressed Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X and labeled The Daily Beast a “gossip blog” as she defended Johnson, while also taking a dig at President Joe Biden and his finances.
As Greene attacked The Daily Beast for their claims on Johnson’s finances, the Congresswoman faced some backlash on the social media platform.
Marjorie Taylor Greene mocks The Daily Beast
On X, Washington Bureau Chief on The Daily Beast, Matt Fuller, wrote, “Mike Johnson doesn't have any retirement savings, own a single stock, or have any assets at all. He has less than $5,000 in his bank account. He's got a 250-500K mortgage, a home equity loan, and a personal loan. So what's his retirement plan? To lobby?”

Fuller also added, “I get that most Americans are in a similar boat. (I'm not a rich man!) But when the Speaker has ZERO savings at 51, it's an indication that his financial literacy is, uh... let's just say that's how you "offset" $14 billion in Israel funding and end up costing the gov $90 billion.”

Greene responded to Fuller, “The gossip blog Daily Beast is complaining that Speaker Mike Johnson (married father of 4) is not a rich politician with millions and millions of dollars while making $174,000/year. The DB can’t do math.”

The DB can’t do math.
Better story would be how Joe Biden is a millionaire after 50 yrs in office.

Marjorie Taylor Greene faces backlash on X
Following her dig at The Daily Beast and Joe Biden, as she defended Speaker Mike Johnson, the internet wasn’t too impressed. One person wrote, “Your very triggered. Now you know how it feels when people dig into your personal finances.”
One person shared a meme of Greene that read, “There are rocks in my driveway smarter than me,” and another simply labeled Greene, a “loser.”
“Marge, why is one of your first thoughts today, with everything going on in this country, "I wonder what the Daily Mail says about Mike Johnson?” asked one user, and another questioned, “How are any of you millionaires?”
